It is getting harder and harder to get up in the morning. Another time change last night and another tonight and the next night. I kind of wish they would have done the entire time change on the first night, like when you fly to a faraway location. But the fact remains that they didn’t leave me in charge and didn’t ask for my opinion.

Jeff’s alarm went off at 7:30 and it was still dark out. Mine went off at 8 and I just wasn’t capable of getting out of bed yet (I found an app that actually worked … yay me!)

So, uneventful morning. I think we finally made it to breakfast around 9, saw Pat and Cyndi and they joined us at our table. We visited for a while and then went our separate ways. Jeff and I went to the back pool deck where it was incredibly windy. Jeff lasted an hour (I forgot his hat) and I made it for 2 hours. We skipped lunch and I went to watercolor class and Jeff went to Fletcher’s lecture.

Officer in training by the back pool … stupid sextant!

At the captain’s noon briefing he said we have traveled 1723 miles and have 1772 to our first destination, so we’re nearly half way to our first stop. We are traveling at 20.5 knots, near top speed, in an effort to stay out of the Tropical Depression Sean’s way, which has formed south of us. Sunset will be 7:30 and sunrise at 8:30.

Jeff’s hip is hurting today, don’t know if it is gym or hard mattress related. He took a muscle relaxer and laid down as soon as he got back from the lecture and he’s out cold.

In watercolor class today we did jellyfish … here is my interpretation:

We had church service at our scheduled dinner time (5 pm) and our waiter told us to go ahead and come to the dining room afterwards. Our priest was Fr. Dennis, originally from Toronto and now retired and living in Louisville, KY. He travels on cruise ships about 5 months out of the year, free of charge …. Tough work if you can get it. He also has another priest with him who is 91, in a wheelchair and from Chicago.

When we got to dinner, our table mates weren’t there, and Gus and Toni got our meals to us very quickly. We thanked them for letting us upset their workflow and they assured us that it was “their job”.

We went to lightning trivia after dinner. That were 30 questions and answers at lightning speed, which equates to half an hour on a cruise ship! We got out of there with little more than half correct. We do much better at music trivia. Tomorrow night is geography and flags … I’m studying up for that one!

We ended the evening listening to music at the Rolling Stone bar and was entertained not only by the band, but also by our favorite bartender on the ship … “Amazing” Grace. We gave her the nickname amazing, like she’s probably NEVER heard that from anyone before! We have created a drinking game at the bar … every time she asks if we’re okay, we have to take a drink. It’s a good thing the drinks aren’t that strong!!

The AMAZING Grace!!

It was a new moon last night so we ended the evening up on the 10th deck trying to see the stars but there wasn’t a dark corner to be found and there were too many lights on … bummer.
