We left Oman yesterday and are headed south toward the Seychelles. In order to get there, we have to go past Somalia. According to the captain at his noon briefing today, he turned over command of the ship and retired for the evening last night- saying something about Formula One. There was some fuel changeover being done in the engine room and our speed after 11 pm had intentionally dropped below 10 knots. The captain received a call from the officer in charge that two separate targets had been identified circling the ship. The captain brushed it off as curious fisherman and our speed was increased to 18 knots and we left them behind.
I’m glad we were blissfully unaware and playing cards last night.
