First, pictures of the nearly full moon from yesterday evening ….
Today didn’t work out as planned, but we had been warned by the captain the previous 2 days that this stop looked iffy at best. A high-pressure system in place was causing high winds which doesn’t mix well with tender operations, especially given how many people on board use walkers, wheel chairs or scooters. I have no doubt that calling off this port of call was not only for the safety of the passengers (who underestimate their abilities), but the crew who would have to man the platform and the tenders.
The captain brought onboard the immigration personnel, so our face-to-face check-in was accomplished and when we get to the next stop we will only have to check out.
We were anchored in the bay and the ship was constantly having to maneuver to keep the bow into the wind. About 12:30 anchors were pulled up, we turned around and now are heading slowly up the coast to our next stop, also in Namibia.
This pictures of Luderitz, depict what I envisioned all of Africa looked like before we started this journey. How wrong I was!
