Today is the day that we celebrated HALLOWEEN on board! This was necessary so we would have some competition at the costume contest … lol! Most of the ship that left on excursions yesterday in Egypt had extremely long days and most didn’t return until 10pm.
Here are some pics of ship decorations for Halloween
Here are a few of the costumes that I got pictures of today
And here we are in our Egyptian motif
Thanks to Cyndi for capturing the final photograph!!
At the captain’s noon update today, he acknowledged that we are entering an area that has seen shipping challenges, mainly due to Somalia pirates, although he said they haven’t really been active since 2019. He said that we can expect to see a military presence in the area as well as sea and air drones when we pass through the strait between Somalia and Yemen, which is 17 miles across. He also said we would be travelling through the area at full speed and would then enter a protected shipping corridor going around Yemen toward Oman. One interesting thing that we might see would be Somalia pirates riding in our wake to avoid radar.
I’m signing off and enjoying the next couple of sea days. I’ll be back with pictures from Oman – we are there on November 5th. That’s all I have … look for next post on November 6th.
